Clarence Boes 1911-1970

GLIDDEN—Requiem mass for Clarence Boes, 59, of Glidden will be celebrated at 10:30 Monday morning in Holy Family Church, Lidderdale, by the Rt. Rev. Msgr. C. J. Ivis. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Carroll.

Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 7 p.m. Saturday. The rosary will be recited Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 3, 8 and 8:45 p.m.

Mr. Boes, an employee of Jung's Bakery at Carroll, died about 9 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony Hospital, Carroll, where he had been a patient for two days.

He was born at Breda Dec. 14, 1911, a son of Theodore and Anna Boes. He spent his young manhood in the Breda vicinity, graduating from St. Bernard High School. On Jan. 2, 1941, he was married to Florence Schapman at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church by the late Rev. Bernard Loeffelholz. The couple farmed in the Breda area until 1949, when they moved to another farm six miles southeast of Glidden. They moved into Glidden in 1959 and he had worked for the bakery since then. He was a member of Holy Family Church at Lidderdale.

Surviving are his wife: three children, Robert of North Liberty, Mrs. Tom (Joan) Tibbitts, Iowa City, and Mrs. Stan (Ellen) Slessor, LaPorte City; also two grandchildren, four brothers, Albert, Edmund and Earl Boes of Breda and Raymond Boes of Wall Lake; and three sisters, Mrs. Matt (Philomina) Thelen and Mrs. Fred (Mathilda) Thelen, both of Breda, and Mrs. Arnold (Rose) Ludwig of Lake City. Two brothens preceded him in death.
