BREDA—Connie Nieland, 59, died of cancer Tuesday, Aug. 23, 1994 at her home in rural Breda.

Mass of the Christian burial for Mrs. Nieland will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 28, at St. Bernard Church in Breda with the Rev. Thomas Hart officiating.

Casket bearers will be Jim Berger, Leonard Wuebker, Lynn Wuebker, Alfred Schroeder, Leland Schaefer and Leon Hermsen. Honorary casket bearers will be Kay Nieland, Edna Ludwig, Patsy Nieland, Marcia McLellan, Marge Wiederin, Mary Pudenz and LuAnn Mueller.

Lector will be Sister Ione Nieland. Gift bearers will be Tara, Christopher, Lindsey and Amanda Nieland, Casey Snyder and Matt Stork. Mass servers will be Jason and Brandon Nieland and Jeff Babe. Eucharistic ministers will be Ruth Tigges and Derrith Loneman. Honorary Catholic Order of Foresters will be Helen Ann Wessling, Marceal Wittry, Phyllis Schroeder, Marilyn Snyder, Jean Grote and Pam Huegerich. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery in Breda.

Friends will call after 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Sharp Funeral Home in Breda, where a rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. by the St. Bernard Ladies Build. There will be a Christian wake service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday by St. Bernard Parish at the funeral home followed by an 8:30 p.m. rosary by the Breda Catholic Order of Foresters.

She was born April 29, 1935, at Carroll, a daughter of Clarence “Gotch” and Rose (Reicks) Loneman, and spent her younger years in the Carroll community, attending Sts. Peter and Paul elementary school. She graduated from St. Angela Academy in 1953.

She and Eugene Nieland were married Aug. 20, 1955, at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Carroll, with Bishop Frank Greteman officiating. The Nielands settled on their family farm southeast of Breda.

Mrs. Nieland was a member of St. Bernard Parish and the Parish Ladies Guild. She was also a member of the Breda Catholic Order of Foresters and did volunteer work for several organizations.

Survivors include her husband, Eugene Nieland, of Breda, nine children, Dan Nieland and his wife Karen, of Breda, Steve Nieland and his wife Jolene, of Breda, Kevin Nieland and his wife, Deb, of Breda, Lori Snyder and her husband, Randy, of Breda, Joni Nieland and her fiancé, Mike Klusman, of Breda, Jan Stork and her husband, Russ, of Omaha, Neb., Mary Jo Wellenstein and her husband, Frank, of Omaha, Jill Nieland of Omaha and Amy Schreck and her husband, Kevin, of Roselle; 19 grandchildren; her father Clarence Loneman, of Carroll; a brother Dick Loneman, and his wife Jan, of Omaha, Neb.; and her parents-in-law, Lawrence and Helen Nieland of Breda,

Mrs. Nieland was preceded in death by her mother, Rose Loneman, in 1983.
