Delbert Bernard Brincks 1928-2009

CARROLL—Mass of the Christian burial for Delbert B. Brincks, 81, of Carroll, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at St. Lawrence Church in Carroll. Father Timothy Schott will officiate.

Mr. Brincks died early Thursday, Nov. 5, at his residence in Carroll.

Visitation will begin at 3:30 p.m. today, Friday, Nov. 6, at Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll, where a rosary by the Carroll Knights of Columbus will be prayed at 4 p.m. and there will be a Christian wake service by St. Lawrence Parish at 7 p.m.

Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery at Carroll.

Memorials may be left at the funeral home or church for the Kuemper Catholic Schools Foundation.

Lector for the Mass will be Bonnie Danner. Gift bearers will be granddaughters: Rachel Brincks, Paige Geister and Holly Myrtue. Eucharistic ministers will be Murray Monson and Wayne and Mary Lou Reiman.

Casket bearers will be grandchildren: Tonja Geister, Heath Geister, Joe Brincks, Alex Brincks, Kristine Brincks, Lisa Brincks, Dr. Nathan Monson and Lucas Monson.

A son of Anton and Clara (Huelsing) Brincks, he was born June 10, 1928, at Willey. He attended St. Joseph School in Carroll and received his general educational development diploma in 1970.

On Sept. 13, 1949, he married Dolora Poeppe at St. Thomas Church in Emmetsburg. The couple made their home in Carroll, where in his earlier years he worked for the Ocoma Foods Company, and in 1950, began his employment with Juergens Produce and Feed Company, where he worked until his retirement after 45 years of service to the company. In retirement, he worked part time for Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll.

He was a member of St. Lawrence Parish and the Knights of Columbus. He volunteered extensively at St. Lawrence Parish and Kuemper High School and was a 16-gallon donor to the Red Cross Bloodmobile. He enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren, and he also enjoyed walking, going to the Carroll Recreation Center and watching western movies.

Survivors include his wife, Dolora Brincks of Carroll; children: Dorothy Geister and husband Gary of Carroll, Dean Brincks and wife Barb of Palatine, Ill., Darwin Brincks and wife Jennifer of Carroll, and Donna Monson and husband Murray of Boone; grandchildren: Tonja Geister, Heath Geister, Holly Myrtue and husband Aaron, Paige Geister, Kristine Brincks, Lisa Brincks, Joe Brincks and fiancé Angie Schaull, Alex Brincks, Rachel Brincks, Dr. Nathan Monson and Lucas Monson; brothers: Melvin Brincks and wife Marlene of Roselle and LeRoy Brincks and wife Darlene of Denison; sisters: Alvina Poeppe and husband Wayne of Eagleville, Mo., Mary Ann Schlichte of Spirit Lake, Bernice Halbur and husband LaVern of Van Meter and Rose Mary Martin and hus-band Charles of Waucoma; and sisters and brothers-in-law: Linda Venteicher of Carroll, Fern and Ken Dob-bins of Sioux City, Ken and Ruth Poeppe of Emmetsburg, Phyllis Lindsey of Laurens, Dale and Bea Poeppe of Emmetsburg, Pat and Howard Metzger of Estherville, and Zeline and Joe Gappa of Emmetsburg.

Mr. Brincks was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Shirley Brincks, in infancy; and a brother, Irwin Brincks.
