Robert Andrew Becker 1929-1999

A funeral service for Robert A. Becker of Carroll will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 14, 1999, at St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Mr. Becker, 70, died Thursday, June 10, 1999, at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Des Moines.

Pastor Charles Haake will officiate the service. The casket will be moved to the church at 8:30 a.m.

Burial with honors by Maurice Dunn American Legion Post No. 7 of Carroll will be in Carroll Cemetery.

A son of William S. and Amelia (Reising) Becker, he was born May 30, 1929, at Breda; attended St. Bernard School and spent his younger years in that community.

Mr. Becker entered the Army in August 1951 and served during the Korean War.

He and Phyllis Clark were married April 23, 1957, at Lake City. She died in 1966.

He and Joanne Baumhover Burke were married April 3, 1976 at Glidden.

Mr. Becker worked for Scranton Manufacturing Co. from 1974 to 1980, was a night security guard for Farmland Food in Carroll from 1981 to 1986 and later worked part-time for the City of Carroll Parks and Recreation Department.

Survivors include his wife, Joanne Becker, of Carroll; three children and their wives: Ronald and Cheryl Becker of Carroll, Don and Cathy Becker of Colorado and Brad and Deb Becker of Emmetsburg; three stepchildren; Cheryl Becker and her husband Ronald, of Carroll, Jon Burke and his wife, Suzanne, of San Antonio, Texas, and Michael Burke of South Padre Island, Texas; four grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; three sisters; Helen Wolterman and her husband Wilbur, of Carroll, Clarita Roth of Spencer and Phyllis Danner and her husband, Verlin, of Glidden; eight brothers and their wives; Arthur and Dorothy Becker of Dunlap, William and Mary Lou Becker of Carroll, John and Marna Becker of Afton, Zenas and Loa Becker of Carroll, Jerome Becker of Glidden, Allen Becker of Perry, Gary and Maureen Becker of Perry and Gene and Kaye Becker of Pemeroy; and a sister-in-law, Eileen Becker, of Des Moines.

Mr. Becker was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; a daughter, Betty Lou Becker; a step-son, David Burke; a brother, Michael Becker; and a sister Jovina Becker.
