Ramsdorf Coat of Arms
Wappen

Town: Ramsdorf

District (Kreis): Borken

State: Nordrhein-Westfalen

Origin/Meaning: The arms show a canting ram. This symbol was already used in the oldest seal of the city dating from the 14th century. The symbol never changed during the centuries, although it started to look more like a big bell than a ram. When the cross was added is not clear.

Literature: Stadler, K.: Deutsche Wappen - Bundesrepublik Deutschland. Angelsachsen Verlag, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.

The above information was obtained from the International Civic Arms website, http://www.ngw.nl/indexgb.htm.
