ecause your privacy is important to us, we collect and display information under the following privacy principles:

We collect genealogy and historical data from many sources. These sources include private individuals, newspapers, church records, federal census records, the social security death index, state and county vital records, cemetery records, court records, national and state archives, historical and genealogical societies, family and county websites, free and subscription genealogy databases, and numerous other sources.

We collect birth, death, and marriage "vital" data in our genealogy database. The vital family data that we collect about deceased individuals is generally available through public sources; therefore, we may post such data on this website at our discretion. We consider the data we collect for living persons to be confidential. We enter this data in our genealogy database for future reference; however, we list only the names of living persons on the website in order to protect their privacy. We do not publish birth or marriage dates or places for living persons.

It is our policy to restrict access to the Nieland genealogy database to the four individuals who are conducting the primary Nieland research.
